A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SAILOR
The day for your young sailor starts at 9:00 am at the entrance of Pier 5, One15 Brooklyn Marina. NYSC Captain Ross, Paul, or Dayyan will greet the sailors. From 9 to 9:30 am the captain and sailors will go over the itinerary, charts, and activities for the day.
Before we set sail everyone has an opportunity to visit the restrooms on land and purchase a snack/lunch if the sailor did not bring food from home. We do ask that everyone comes prepared with food for the day and a full water bottle or two, a hat, a long-sleeve option, a raincoat, and ocean-safe sunscreen.
At 10:00 am we set sail for 2 hours. Noon we lunch for an hour. Either back at the pier or we ‘dock and dine’ at anchor at one of many anchorages in New York Harbor.
At 1 pm We set sail again. Full, happy, and hydrated off on the next adventure.
3:30 We are back at pier 5. Packing up, tidying lines, and summing up the day’s lessons.
4 pm Brings the end of the sailors’ day with us. Armed with tales of the sea, wind in their hair, and hydrated as heck they head back to you.
Thank you for letting us hang with your sailor for the day!
