New York Sailing Collective has added programming to provide New Yorkers with even more ways to sail in New York Harbor. NYSC’s Skipper Academy offers certified courses on sailing and seamanship for all, and the Sailor’s Club provides daily sailing adventures to members. Membership is limited to ensure a safe and fun environment for summer 2022 and academy courses are capped at just four participants per class.

New York Sailing Collective, now in its third year, is the latest offering from Dayyan Armstrong and Ross Beane who built the travel company that Conde Nast Traveler has called “at once rustic and luxurious, fueled by a nostalgic interpretation of a bygone seafaring lifestyle and an emphasis on authenticity”.

Located at One°15 Brooklyn Marina off Pier 5 in Brooklyn Heights, NYSC services the the New York community. Founded in 2020 as a pandemic pivot when the Sailing Collective Travel Co. looked to their own backyard to create the authentic sailing experiences that they are known for, NYSC aims to reconnect New Yorkers with the iconic waters of the Bay and foster community around sailing in a city that has lost much of its historic connection to the sailors and the sea that shaped it.

For summer 2022, the New York Sailing Collective has expanded its fleet of classic sailboats and is expanding its offerings; the Sailor’s Club, capped at just 28 members, grants access to sailing daily — and the Skipper Academy offers private sailing courses program with certifications during the weekends and weekdays where students interactively learn boat handling and seamanship.
